Graduate Research Assistant Position.02/26/08

Applications are invited for a Ph.D.-level student to fill a graduate research assistant position that is currently available with Dr. Laurel Saito in the Graduate Program of Hydrologic Science at the University of Nevada Reno. The assistantship includes a monthly stipend and covers tuition and health insurance as well as travel associated with the project. The position will begin July 2008 and is guaranteed for one year, with a possibility of renewal for an additional two years.

Applicants should have a M.S. in engineering, hydrology, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field. The ideal candidate should have a strong quantitative background and interest in interdisciplinary surface water issues. Programming experience with Fortran is particularly welcomed. The successful applicant will parameterize and calibrate a hydrodynamic model to examine water quality and ecosystem dynamics in a terminal lake.
